The second airport, Tenerife Norte, is mainly used for flights in between the islands but also for international flights to South America.

Islas Airways with its headquarter in Puerto de la Cruz was founded by Canarian industrialists in the year 2001 to satisfy the high demand of the interisland flights. At the moment the company only has a few flights, with their ATR-72 planes, in between Tenerife and Gran Canaria. However the company develops fast and plans to have connecting flights to the other islands as well as to Madeira, the Azores and different African, European and even South American cities.

Binter Canarias was founded on the 18th of February 1988 and bought by Hesperia de Inversiones Aéreas a couple of years later, to guarantee the flights in between the islands. Nowadays Binter Canarias flies with its 13 ATR airplanes 140 flights per day in the winter, and 154 in the summer time. The Company interlaces the 7 Canary Islands but also started to offer flights to Europe and Morocco. The headquarters of the company are in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and in Los Rodeos, Tenerife.
